Pennsylvania Lawmaker Seeks Support for Vertical Integration Bill

House Representative Danilo Burgos (D) circulated a co-sponsorship memo for legislation he will be introducing to prohibit PBMs from acquiring or holding, directly or indirectly, a permit to operate a pharmacy in the Commonwealth. Rep. Burgos’ letter to his colleagues points to the bipartisan coalition of 39 state attorneys general who urged Congress to adopt legislation prohibiting PBMs from owning pharmacies.

In the letter, Burgos claims the bill will reign-in the influence PBMs have and provide Pennsylvanians with more choices and lower prices. Burgos was previously co-sponsor of PBM reform legislation enacted in 2023.
