Colorado’s Special Session focused on the state’s budget shortfall of nearly $800 million and concluded with more revenue coming into the state’s coffers. Three bills of significance to The Cigna Group passed during the six-day session and are expected to be signed by Gov. Jared Polis (D).

First, the legislature passed a bill that redirects $100 million from the sale of certain tax credits to the Health Insurance Affordability Enterprise, which funds the state’s reinsurance program and other health care related initiatives.

The original bill called for new and increased fees on health insurers to fund these programs, but those provisions were removed prior to final passage.
