Louisiana Board Modifies Telehealth Rules

The Louisiana Behavior Analyst Board made positive, industry-supported changes to their proposed rulemaking. The initial proposal was very modality-restrictive, not allowing for asynchronous or audio-only delivery of care, and instead only allowing synchronous video and audio applied behavior analysis services.

The reissued version of the rule conforms with the Louisiana Telehealth Act, which allows for asynchronous care, and explicitly states that interactive audio-only modalities may be utilized if the standard of care is met.
