The Alaska Department of Commerce, Community, and Economic Development (DCCED) issued Bulletin B24-12, relating to implementation of HB 226 which became effective Jan. 1. The DCCED is promulgating regulations and they expect them to come out in two packages in early 2025. The first package will address registration requirements for PBMs while the second will focus on PBM claims, grievances, activities, and appeals.

Until the regulations become effective, PBM registration will follow the current Third-Party Administrator processes that are already in place. Additionally, until regulations are adopted and effective regarding PBM claims, grievances, activities, and appeals, the DCCED is unable to process grievances or appeals specific to a PBM complaint.
