Following the release of the Senate Finance Committee’s reconciliation package, the Modern Medicaid Alliance and more than 190 leading health care organizations said they are “deeply concerned” with the proposal to further cut Medicaid. Their letter to Senate Majority Leaders noted, “The proposals released yesterday go even further to undercut the program…Rather than upholding President Trump’s promise to ‘love and cherish Medicaid,’ these policies will fundamentally undermine the Medicaid program that has been a lifeline and safety net for families across the country.”

Families USA also led a letter to Senate Majority Leaders signed by 86 national and state organizations urging the senators to reject the bill because it would “directly eliminate health coverage for roughly 11 million people, a number that jumps to 16 million when factoring in the bill’s assumption that enhanced premium tax credits will expire, further increasing families’ health costs.”
